So I went to Romania, mainly for sad reasons which were terrible but I will not bore this post with rambles about that. Going was mainly for the opportunity and in support of my boyfriend so he did not have to go alone. However, I swear it was actually one of the most culturally shocking, scary and interesting places I have been to!
On arrival we went to Hotel Dumbrava and by the way we are in Bacau which is not the capital but actually a smaller city that is classed as a city but I would never call it a city..because I live near London and THAT is a city. Anyway, I fell in love with this painting, I need it, I long for it, but I don't have it. Bacau was where the sad activity we had to take part in was, so obviously I did not take any photos because that would be weird.. so here are pictures of Romanian donuts and Bucarest (the actual capital city)!
Through the city there is an obvious divide between rich and poor areas, such as the picture below where one building is beautiful, painted and architecturally pleasing but the dark building is derelict, un-cared for and a little depressing! It makes you appreciate the wondering place we live in.
Romania is full of beauty, culture and all the bits in between and back at home, Romanians have a bad name, which while it is easy to assume that all Romanians are the same, they are not and we had the most welcoming time especially after being very overwhelmed and know NOTHING about Romania.
Palace of the Parliament - the second biggest parliament building in the world!
There is no place like home
